A TrueSide support pathway
Hayat. حياة
Hayat means life in Arabic. It's our dedicated service for Muslim participants, and for any family who wants support delivered with cultural and religious understanding rather than awkward explanations.
It matters who is in your home.
For many families, support isn't only about what gets done. It's about who walks through the door, how they speak, what they understand without being told. Hayat workers don't need prayer times explained, halal requirements justified, or modesty preferences negotiated. It's already understood, because we live it too.
- —Female worker preferences are respected. Where we cannot personally provide this, we say so honestly and help you consider alternatives
- —Prayer times respected and built into routines
- —Halal meal preparation, properly understood
- —Family involvement welcomed, never treated as interference
- —Support in English and Dari (Farsi)
Built from our own community.
TrueSide was founded by Anosh Mian Khel, a practicing Muslim from Melbourne's Afghan community. Hayat isn't a marketing add-on or a translated brochure. It's the service we wished our own families could find: professional NDIS support that never asks anyone to choose between their plan and their values.
Hayat is open to everyone who values it: Muslim participants, culturally diverse families, and anyone who simply prefers a worker who treats faith and family as normal parts of life.
Common questions
About Hayat.
Do I have to be Muslim to use Hayat?
No. Hayat exists for anyone who wants support planned around faith, culture, privacy or family expectations. Muslim participants are its heart, but the same respect applies to every household we walk into.
Can family members be involved?
As much or as little as the participant wants. Many of our families are closely involved in planning and that is welcome, but the participant's own choices always lead. We are happy to explain everything to parents or siblings in English or Dari.
