Level 1 vs Level 2 NDIS Support Coordination
Level 1 and Level 2 are different funded Support Coordination supports. The right service is the one in your plan and appropriate to your needs — not simply the one with the higher hourly rate.
Level 1 and Level 2 at a glance
| Funded support | Typical focus | 2026–27 national price limit |
|---|---|---|
| Level 1: Support Connection 07_001_0106_8_3 | Building confidence and connecting with supports, services and community options. | $80.06/hr |
| Level 2: Coordination of Supports 07_002_0106_8_3 | Helping implement a mix of supports, coordinate providers, address service gaps and build capacity to manage supports. | $100.14/hr |
These are the national price limits listed in the NDIS Pricing Schedule 2026–27 at the time this guide was reviewed. Different limits apply in remote and very remote areas.
What Level 1 Support Connection is for
Support Connection is the lower-intensity coordination support. It can help a participant understand the practical next steps in a plan, connect with providers and community or mainstream supports, and build confidence to manage those connections more independently.
It is not simply “Level 2 but cheaper”. The work should match the support that is funded and the participant’s circumstances.
What Level 2 Coordination of Supports is for
Coordination of Supports is designed for more involved implementation and coordination. Depending on the plan and participant’s goals, work can include helping compare providers, organise a mix of services, follow up waitlists or gaps, understand service agreements, coordinate communication between providers and prepare useful information for reassessment.
A good coordinator should still build the participant’s own capacity rather than creating unnecessary dependence on the coordinator.
How do I know which level I have?
Check the funded supports in your current NDIS plan or participant portal. Support Coordination is generally a Capacity Building support, and the plan may refer to Support Connection, Coordination of Supports or Specialist Support Coordination. If the wording is unclear, ask the NDIA, your NDIS contact or your plan manager where appropriate.
A provider should not tell you that a higher level is funded merely because the situation feels complicated. The service agreement and invoices should reflect the support that is actually funded and delivered.
What about Level 3 Specialist Support Coordination?
Specialist Support Coordination is a separate, higher-level support for more complex situations and calls for an appropriately qualified and experienced specialist approach. TrueSide does not advertise Level 3 Specialist Support Coordination. Our current coordination scope is Level 1 and Level 2 where appropriate.
Does plan management type matter?
Yes. TrueSide is currently an unregistered provider. Under current NDIS rules, an unregistered Support Coordinator can work with self-managed or plan-managed funding, but NDIA-managed supports require a registered provider. Registration status and the funded support both need to fit before services start.
Which level is “better”?
Neither level is automatically better. The useful question is whether the funded support and the coordinator’s work match what you need. Ask what the coordinator will actually do, how they will record and report work, how provider options will be compared, and how they will help you build control over your own supports.
Want help putting the plan into action?
TrueSide provides Level 2 Coordination of Supports and Level 1 Support Connection where appropriate for plan-managed and self-managed participants. We confirm the funded support and claiming arrangement before a service agreement.
