NDIS Support Coordination · Levels 1 & 2

NDIS support coordination that keeps your plan moving.

Funding only helps once it turns into actual services. TrueSide helps plan-managed and self-managed participants understand their plan, find the right providers, fix the gaps and keep everything on track - by phone, video or in person.

The role, in plain English

What a support coordinator actually does.

A support coordinator is funded by your NDIS plan to help you use it. Not to deliver your therapy or your daily support, but to make sure the people who do are the right ones, are actually available, and keep doing their jobs. In practice, that means:

  • Making sense of the plan. Going through your funding line by line so you know what each budget can pay for and what it can't.
  • Finding and comparing providers. Researching options that match your needs, area, language and preferences, then presenting them so you can choose.
  • Getting supports started. Making the introductions, checking service agreements before you sign, and confirming bookings actually happen.
  • Coordinating the moving parts. Keeping providers, therapists, family and the NDIA appropriately informed so nothing falls between them.
  • Fixing problems. Waitlists, cancellations, billing errors, providers who go quiet. We chase, escalate and find alternatives.
  • Preparing for change. Helping you get your evidence and supports organised ahead of a plan reassessment, within the coordination role.
  • Building your capacity. The goal over time is that you need us less, because you understand the system and your supports run themselves.
  • Reporting. Completing the coordination reports your plan requires, written clearly.

What a support coordinator is not: a lawyer, an advocate in formal proceedings, a plan manager or a decision-maker on your behalf. Where something sits outside the role, we say so and help you find the right person for it.

Level 1 and Level 2, honestly explained

Level 1 - Support Connection is lighter-touch help to connect with providers and build your confidence to manage supports yourself. Level 2 - Coordination of Supports is the more common, more hands-on version: ongoing help to organise a mix of supports, resolve issues and keep the plan working. Your plan states which level is funded. TrueSide provides Levels 1 and 2 only. We do not provide Level 3 Specialist Support Coordination - if that is what your plan funds, you need a specialist coordinator, and we will say so rather than take work we are not set up for.

Who TrueSide can work with

TrueSide works with plan-managed and self-managed participants. We are not currently a registered NDIS provider, so we cannot support NDIA-managedSupport Coordinators can currently be registered or unregistered. Unregistered providers can work with plan-managed or self-managed funding; NDIA-managed supports require a registered provider.

Coordination by phone, video or in person

Most coordination work is calls, emails, research and paperwork, which travel well. Working by phone, email and video keeps your funded hours going into progress instead of driving, and means distance rarely rules us out. In-person meetings are available around Melbourne's south-east - Greater Dandenong, Casey and surrounds - whenever sitting down together works better for you or your family.

The situations we help with

If any of these sound familiar, coordination funding is exactly what they are for:

  • "I have a new plan and don't know where to start."
  • "My providers aren't communicating with each other."
  • "I need a new support worker and don't know who's good."
  • "My therapy provider has a months-long waitlist."
  • "I don't know what my funding can actually be used for."
  • "My current supports have broken down."
  • "I want to change providers without burning bridges."
  • "My plan reassessment is coming and nothing is organised."

We can't promise a particular NDIA decision or make a waitlist vanish - nobody honestly can. What we can promise is organised, persistent work on your behalf, and straight answers about where things stand.

Conflict of interest, managed openly

Your choice stays yours.

Using TrueSide for support coordination does not require you to use TrueSide for support work. They are separate services with separate agreements, and there is no discount, priority or pressure attached to combining them.

TrueSide also delivers support work, which means a potential conflict of interest exists whenever a support we could deliver comes up in your coordination. Here is exactly how we handle it: we tell you about the relationship upfront and again at the moment it becomes relevant; we research and present genuine alternative providers alongside any TrueSide option, with enough information to compare them properly; we record the disclosure and your decision in your file; and we never treat coordination participants as a pipeline for our own services. Choosing another provider changes nothing about the quality or priority of your coordination - and you can change any provider, including us, at any time.

If you ever feel pressured, tell us, tell your plan manager, or contact the NDIS Commission on 1800 035 544. Our full Conflict of Interest Policy is published in our policies.

FAQ

Support coordination questions, answered

What is NDIS support coordination?

Support coordination is a funded NDIS support that helps you understand your plan and put it into action: working out what your budgets can pay for, finding and connecting with providers, sorting out problems, and building your ability to manage supports yourself over time. It is funded from the Support Coordination budget in your plan, separately from the supports it helps you organise.

Do I need support coordination funding in my plan?

Yes. Support coordination can only be delivered if your plan includes funding for it, usually listed as Support Coordination within Capacity Building. If you are not sure whether you have it, send us a message or check your plan, and we will help you work it out at no charge.

Can support coordination happen over phone or video?

Yes, and much of it naturally does. Provider research, phone calls, emails, reports and check-ins all work well remotely, which keeps your funded hours going into progress rather than travel. In-person meetings are available around Melbourne's south-east when you prefer them.

Can I use TrueSide if my plan is plan-managed?

Yes. We invoice your plan manager with the correct NDIS item codes at or below the current price limits.

Can I use TrueSide if I self-manage?

Yes. Invoices come directly to you, and as a self-managed participant you can also negotiate rates.

What if my plan is NDIA-managed?

TrueSide is not currently a registered NDIS provider, so we cannot claim against NDIA-managed funding. If your plan is NDIA-managed you will need a registered support coordinator. Ask us anyway - we will say so plainly and point you toward registered options rather than leave you searching.

Can TrueSide also provide my support worker?

TrueSide does deliver support work in Melbourne's south-east, but the two services are completely separate. If support work comes up while we are coordinating for you, we disclose that TrueSide is one option, show you genuine alternatives, and record your decision. The choice is entirely yours.

Am I required to use TrueSide's other services?

No, never. Using TrueSide for support coordination does not require you to use TrueSide for anything else, and it never will.

Can I change support coordinators?

Yes, at any time. Changing coordinators is your right, and your funding moves with you. If you join us from another coordinator, we handle the handover. If you ever leave us, we will make that handover clean too.

Do you work with family members and nominees?

Yes. With the participant's consent, we work with parents, carers, guardians and plan nominees, and we keep everyone appropriately informed. The participant's own choices always lead.

Is Dari-speaking support coordination available?

Yes. Coordination can run fully in Dari (Farsi) if that is more comfortable for you or your family - see our Dari-speaking support coordination page for details.
