Dari-speaking NDIS support coordinator in Melbourne.

The NDIS is confusing enough in your first language. TrueSide provides support coordination in fluent Dari and English - so participants and their families can understand the plan, choose providers and fix problems without anything getting lost in translation.

Why it matters

A plan you can't discuss is a plan you can't direct.

Many Dari-speaking families in Melbourne have NDIS plans with funding that never gets used. Not because the need isn't real, but because everything about the scheme - budgets, item codes, service agreements, provider emails - arrives in dense English. A son or daughter ends up translating at the kitchen table, decisions get delayed, and providers quietly move on to easier clients.

A support coordinator who works in Dari changes the dynamic. Anosh Mian Khel, TrueSide's founder, is a native Dari speaker from Melbourne's south-east Afghan community. He can sit with a participant and their parents, go through the plan line by line in Dari, lay out the provider options in Dari, and then handle the English-language phone calls, emails and reports that make it all happen.

What Dari-speaking coordination includes

  • The plan, explained in Dari. What each budget can pay for, what it can't, and what to do first.
  • Provider options you can weigh up properly. Shortlists discussed in Dari, including culturally responsive and Dari-speaking providers where they exist - with the choice always yours.
  • Someone to handle the English. Calls, emails, service agreements and coordination reports done for you, and explained back to you.
  • Family included, participant leading. With consent, parents and family are part of the conversation - in the language the conversation actually works in.
  • Problems chased. Waitlists, billing errors and providers who go quiet get followed up so the plan keeps moving.

Available across Melbourne, not just the south-east

Because coordination runs mostly on phone, email and video, we can work with Dari-speaking participants across Melbourne and Victoria. In-person meetings are available around Greater Dandenong, Casey and the south-east when face to face works better.

Funding and eligibility

You need Support Coordination funding (Level 1 or Level 2) in a plan-managed or self-managed plan. TrueSide is unregistered, so we cannot work with NDIA-managed plans - if that's you, we'll say so and point you toward registered options. Not sure what your plan includes? Send it through in your enquiry conversation and we'll tell you plainly, at no charge.

Looking for hands-on support in Dari instead?

That's our separate Dari-speaking support work service, delivered in person across Melbourne's south-east. Using one service never requires the other.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Is there a Dari-speaking NDIS support coordinator in Melbourne?

Yes. TrueSide provides NDIS support coordination (Level 1 Support Connection and Level 2 Coordination of Supports) in fluent Dari as well as English, for plan-managed and self-managed participants. Because coordination works well by phone and video, it's available across Melbourne and more widely in Victoria, with in-person meetings around the south-east.

Why does a Dari-speaking coordinator make a difference?

Support coordination is mostly talking: explaining budgets, weighing up providers, resolving problems. When that happens through a family member translating, or not at all, participants lose the ability to direct their own plan. Coordination in Dari means the participant and their family hear the options first-hand and make their own decisions.

Can you explain the NDIS plan to my parents in Dari?

Yes, with the participant's consent. Plans, budgets, service agreements and provider options can all be talked through in Dari with parents, carers and family members, while written NDIS documents remain in English as the scheme requires.

Does the support coordinator have to be near my suburb?

No. Coordination is delivered mostly by phone, email and video, so we work with Dari-speaking participants across Melbourne, not just the south-east. In-person meetings are available around Greater Dandenong and Casey when preferred.

Can TrueSide be my support worker and my support coordinator?

They are separate services and you are never required to combine them. If TrueSide support work comes up as an option during your coordination, we disclose the relationship, show you genuine alternatives - including other Dari-speaking workers where they exist - and record your decision. The choice stays yours.

What does it cost?

Support coordination is billed from the Support Coordination budget in your plan at or below the NDIS price limits: $80.06 per hour for Level 1 and $100.14 per hour for Level 2 under the NDIS Pricing Schedule 2026-27. Details are confirmed in your service agreement.
