What culturally safe NDIS support actually looks like
“Culturally safe” gets used a lot. But for families, it isn’t a buzzword - it’s the difference between support that feels foreign and support that feels like home.
It’s about who walks through the door
Support isn’t only about what gets done. It’s about who’s in your home, how they speak, and what they understand without being told. A worker who already knows your customs doesn’t need prayer times explained or halal requirements justified.
Language you actually speak
Being supported in your own language changes everything - especially for personal care and understanding your plan. TrueSide delivers support in English and Dari (also known as Farsi), so nothing important gets lost in translation.
Faith and food, understood by default
Through our Hayat pathway, prayer times are built into routines, halal meals are prepared properly, and modesty preferences are respected without awkward conversations. Female worker preferences are respected where we can provide them - and where we can’t, we say so honestly.
Family treated as normal, not interference
In many cultures, family is closely involved in care - and that’s welcomed, never treated as a problem. The participant’s own choices always lead, but parents and siblings can be kept in the loop, in the language they’re comfortable with.
