What support coordinators look for in providers
Support coordinators carry the risk of every referral they make. Here’s what separates a provider they’ll use again from one they won’t.
Compliance they can verify fast
Coordinators need clearances, insurance and checks - and they need them quickly. A provider who sends an NDIS Worker Screening clearance, WWCC, police check and insurance the same day makes everyone’s job easier.
Clean, correct paperwork
Service agreements that align with the NDIS, invoices with the right item codes and price-guide rates, and predictable payment terms. Sloppy paperwork creates work for the coordinator and the plan manager - and they remember it.
Responsiveness
A referral acknowledged within one business day, and a meet & greet offered quickly, tells a coordinator the participant won’t fall through the cracks. Slow or silent providers don’t get a second referral.
A genuine match, not just availability
The best outcomes come from real fit - language, culture, gender preference, the right support type. A provider who is honest about what they can and can’t do (and refers on when they’re not right) earns trust.
Follow-through
Ultimately coordinators want to know one thing: will this provider actually do what they said, consistently? Reliability is the whole reputation.
