Muslim NDIS support in Melbourne.
For Muslim families navigating the NDIS, finding a support worker who respects your faith should not be the hardest part of the process. TrueSide was built by a Muslim support worker, for families who want support that aligns with their values.
Support that respects your faith, not just your plan.
Muslim families in Melbourne often describe the same frustration when dealing with NDIS providers. The support worker does not know when prayer times are. They cook meals without checking whether the food is halal. They schedule activities during Jumu'ah. They do not understand why a mother wants to be present during personal care, or why a family insists on a male worker for their son. These are not unreasonable expectations. They are basic requirements that any faith-aware provider should meet without hesitation.
TrueSide was founded by Anosh Mian Khel, a practising Muslim based in Noble Park North. Faith is not a policy addition at TrueSide. It is personal. Anosh prays five times a day, fasts during Ramadan, and understands the role that Islam plays in daily life for Muslim families. When your support worker shares that understanding, everything becomes easier. You do not have to explain. You do not have to justify. You do not have to compromise.
What faith-aware support looks like
- Prayer times built into every shift. Whether the participant prays independently or needs prompting and physical support, prayer is scheduled as a natural part of the day, not squeezed in between other tasks.
- Halal meal preparation. Not "we can try to accommodate." Halal by default. Anosh knows the difference between a halal label and genuinely halal sourcing, and he prepares meals accordingly.
- Modesty and dignity. Personal care is delivered with full respect for Islamic modesty requirements. For male participants, having a male worker simplifies this entirely.
- Ramadan planning. Suhoor timing, iftar preparation, adjusted activity schedules, and medication management are all planned before Ramadan begins. Not figured out on day one.
- Family involvement. In many Muslim households, the family is deeply involved in care decisions. TrueSide respects and welcomes that involvement. Parents, siblings, and extended family are kept in the loop, and their preferences are heard alongside the participant's.
- Friday prayers. Jumu'ah is treated as a fixed commitment, not a scheduling conflict.
The Hayat pathway
Hayat (meaning "life" in Arabic and Dari) is TrueSide's culturally and spiritually responsive support pathway. It was created specifically for Muslim families and participants from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds who want their values reflected in the way support is delivered. Learn more on the Hayat page.
NDIS services
All of TrueSide's core services are delivered with faith-aware practice: daily living and personal care, community participation, transport, and household tasks. Support is available seven days a week, including evenings and weekends, at standard NDIS rates. We never charge above the price limits.
Language
Anosh speaks fluent English and Dari (Farsi). For Dari-speaking families, the entire support experience can be in Dari. For Arabic-speaking or Urdu-speaking families, Anosh has basic conversational ability in both, though English or Dari would be the primary language for day-to-day communication.
Funding and eligibility
TrueSide supports plan-managed and self-managed NDIS participants across Melbourne's south-east (Greater Dandenong and the City of Casey). We are not registered for NDIA-managed plans. If you are unsure about your plan type, contact us and we will help you work it out.

Frequently asked questions
What does "faith-aware" NDIS support mean?
It means your faith is treated as a normal part of your life, not an inconvenience. Prayer times are built into the shift schedule. Halal food is prepared without being asked twice. Modesty preferences are respected during personal care. Ramadan adjustments are planned ahead of time. It is support that works with your faith, not around it.
Is TrueSide only for Muslim participants?
No. TrueSide supports participants of all backgrounds. Our Hayat pathway was designed specifically for Muslim families and CALD communities, but our core services, including daily living, community participation, transport, and household tasks, are available to any plan-managed or self-managed NDIS participant in our service area.
Can TrueSide accommodate gender preferences for personal care?
Yes. Anosh, TrueSide's support worker, is male. For male participants who prefer a male worker for personal care, that is straightforward. If a female participant or family requires a female worker, we would discuss this upfront and be honest about whether we can meet that need rather than making promises we cannot keep.
Does TrueSide understand Ramadan adjustments?
Yes. During Ramadan, meal preparation, hydration support, medication timing, and activity scheduling all need to shift. TrueSide plans for this in advance rather than reacting to it on the first day of fasting.
